Bragg Bottle Carrier
I developed a paperboard carrier for a two-pack of 32 oz Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar bottles, engineered to securely retain the filled bottles around a narrow, shrink-wrapped neck flange where conventional carrier designs could slip.
I led the structural design from development and prototyping through physical testing, production implementation and commercialization for Sam’s Club.

Process
Solving the retention challenge
The narrow, shrink-wrapped bottle flange left very little surface for the carrier to engage. The design needed to securely support two filled 32 oz bottles through carrying and rough handling without slipping.
Creating and proving a secure carrier
I developed a new retention-tooth system that remained stiff under load and conformed around the bottle flange for secure engagement. Iterative prototypes, cyclic drop testing and rough-handling tests helped refine the carrier until it consistently maintained engagement.
Designing for production and efficient packing
Manufacturing, graphics and application requirements were integrated throughout development. I also designed and 3D-printed an applicator to help the co-packer install the carriers onto the bottles more quickly.

Outcome
The final carrier was produced as designed and commercialized for Sam’s Club. The novel retention-tooth system also resulted in a patent filing.
